Here we see a large specimen of Ectillaenus katzeri, discovered during the construction of the D5 motorway in the Mıto section in the 1970s. The site where these large trilobites were found is no longer accessible today. Thanks to the great interest of the construction workers, paleontologists, and collectors in trilobites and paleontology, many specimens were recovered and transferred to collections at that time. According to reports, the construction workers had a lot of fun finding “trilobite eggs” or “potatoes” alongside their work. The conditions for finding fossils must have been fantastic back then. This specimen is an excellent example of this classic trilobite from the Czech Republic. Fully extended, this Ectillaenus katzeri would be about 83 mm long.
