Products description

Here  is a very nice fossil leaf with chew marks of the species Allophylus flexifolia  from the Green River formation of Utah.  There are two fossil insects on this plate. The first one is a fungus gnat that likely belongs to the species Sackenia arcuata Scudder, 1877. The second insect fossil should belong to the a soldier flies (Stratiomyidae). It correlates well to the species Asarcomyia cadaver Scudder, 1890. The fossil Allophylus leaf shows some very nice feeding traces or bite marks of other insects. All together this is a very nice and interesting piece from the Green River Formation.

The Fossil leaf is about 91 mm long. The insect fossils are approximately 4 to 5 mm long.
