Here we have a interesting specimen of a pathological brittle star fossil of the species Ophiurina lymani.
The brittle star exhibits bite marks, which were likely fatal, as more than half of the central disc is missing.
Even the remarkable regenerative abilities of the Ophiuroidea clearly have their limits.
The fossil itself measures approximately 35 x 26 mm.
