Geocoma libanotica (King, 1825)
Fossil brittle stars of the genus Geocoma occur widely spread in the Jurassic and Cretaceous period. The species Geocoma elegans (HELLER, 1858) is known from the Middle Jurassic (Callovium) of La Voulte in France. The most famous species is Geocoma carinata (GOLDFUSS, 1833) that is well known from the upper
Jurasic of the Solnhofen limestone and especially from Zandt quarry. The species Geocoma libanotica has described from Lebanon dates in the late Cretaceous, Cenomanian age. Ophiurid brittle stars are found regularly in the fossil quarries of the Lebanon. Therefore, we offer them here in a separate category of our fossil shop.
