Here is a fantastic preserved Densonella semele from the upper Cambrian Weeks Formation of Utah. The specimen shows nicely the typical lighthouse eyes of this species. This trilobite species is known under a number of synonyms. The most common synonym is Menomonia semele but the species was from Walcott in 1916 described under the genus Millardia semele. Although is Densonella semele the typespecies of the genus Densonella (sensu SHAW, 1952). So this trilobite species demonstrate that systematic in the most cases all different but not simple organised. | |||
