This is a wonderful fossil from the Ediacaran biota that belongs to the rare species Andiva ivantsovi. The fossil offers a very nice and detailed preservation along with a impressive size. The plate was carefully glued, there are tiny repairs on the glue line. The fossil it self mesures about 83 x 60 mm as it is on the plate. Systematically belongs the genus Andiva to the Proarticulata. This group is interpreted as possible ancestors of the Articulata. Together with genus Yorgia, Praecambridium, Archaeaspinus, Ivovicia, Spriggina, Marywadea and Cyanorus is Andiva accountet to the group Cephalozoa.
As practically on all vendian fossils is interpretation difficult and topic of controversial discussions. How ever this pice is a large and nice show piece from the late Proterozoic.
