Here is a fossil wasp which probably belongs to the family Pompilidae. The Pompilidae are also known as spider wasps. This fossil specimen shows some nice details which are otherwise only rarely observed in fossil records. Such as, for example, the stigmas which, together with the trachea, form respiratory system of insects are visibile. This fossil insect also shows a preservation of the colour pattern. This fossil wasp is about 11 mm long.
