| Here is a cut of a Rhynie Chert showing several fossil and first land plants. Among other species, there is a very nice cross section of the species Rhynia gwynne-vaughanii on the plate. The silicified plant fossils from the Rhynie Chert are considered the oldest fossil evidence of land plants. | |||
