This fossil from the Chengjiang fauna is a rare arthropod of the species Panlongia spinosa. The exact systematic position of Panlongia is still uncertain, as the preserved characteristics suggest a relationship either to the Nektaspida or similarly to the Helmetia group of the Conciliterga. In any case, Panlongia should be classified as trilobite-like Trilobitomorpha. It should be noted that Trilobitomorpha is relatively frequently used, but this subphylum is actually considered an outdated or latently invalid taxon. The term “Non-Trilobite Arthropod” is more common today. The Panlongia itself is about 10 mm long. | |||
