Products description
Here we have a fossilized bird-dinosaur feather preserved in Cretaceous amber from Burma. As additional inclusions, this piece also contains a beetle and what is likely a dance fly of the genus Alavesia sp.. In addition, there is an inclusion of a wood bug and another Diptera in this piece.
Fossil feathers from bird-like dinosaurs are among the most sought-after inclusions in amber from Myanmar. The present fossil feather itself measures about 2.5 mm. The amber is beautifully clear and shows the feather in striking detail. One can clearly see how it became trapped in the sticky resin.
Fossil inclusions in Burmese amber are in fact not uncommon. However, feathers of birds or dinosaurs are far rarer than insect inclusions..
