This pathologic specimen of a Isotellus has a not healed injury in the region of the glabella. A other, nearly healed mark can may be found under the right Eye. Facinating is tha fact that the pygidium does not show any marks or damages so that we can believe that the trilobite was caught by a predator while it was not enrolled. In the Ordovician age we just know Nautiloids and Eurypterids as posibile predators. But the Ordovician Cephalopods had so far we know a beak-shaped Chitin jaw that would not caused this kind of damage on the cephalon. So a Eurypterid with a spiny pincer is the most plausible suspect. | |||
