Here is a very nice and rare fossil dragonfly from Solnhofen. The insect shows all 4 wing and the body as well. The wings itself offer some exceptional details. On the left side was a natural joint so that both wingtips run slightly in to the clay. This joint was closed during the gluing and the missing wingtips got restored. This fossil insect has also nicely the legs preserved what is not to common for this species.
The Dragonfly is about 95 mm long and does have a wingspan of about 110 mm. |
