Here is a detaild preserved Arthricocephalus laterilobatus together with two trilobite larval stages. One Meraspis stage with only 4 body segments and a only rarely found protaspis stage Both juvenile stages are present as a negative and seems to be also from the species Arthricocephalus laterilobatus. On trilobite lave in the Protaspid Stage is the carapace a singe more ore less round shaped segment disk, on the most species. On later Protaspid stages deloped the shape of the cephalon and pygidium but the are still fix connected together. On the later odontogenesis will the be separated from the pygidium, now the trilobite lave is called a meraspid stage. In the meraspid stage does the juvenile trilobite grow by integrating more and more singe pleural segments until the number of a adult specimen is reached. Even the trilobite is might be capable of keep growing in size it will add no more segments of other features. This adult stages is also referred as Holaspid stage. | |||
