The Dudley Bug is or at least it was one of the world most famous trilobites. Already back in the 18th century was this trilobite a valued collector’s item. The flourish limestone quarry Wren's Nest Hill in Dudley back at these days many of this wonderful fossils. In the Victorian became the Dudley Bug even more famous, if found its way in the jewellery as a brooch or pendant. Even fakes and assemblages glued together with birch-tar are known from this period. Only Dudley trilobites of the species Calymene blumenbachii are be called Dudley Bug. This is even the type species for the Genus Calymene and Wren's Nest is the type locality.
