Here is a huge fossil Waterbug from the lithographic limestone of Eichstätt. The fossil insect belongs to the species Mesobelostonum deperditum and offers a very detailed preservation. Even the organic substance is partial preserved, what is rarely the case on fossil "Solnhofen - Insects". You can see this on the ultra violet light picture, the fossil organic substance is luminescent under blacklight at "Solnhofen - Fossils". The Mesobelostonum is nicely centerd on the Matrix and all 6 legs are preserved and visible.
The fossil itself is about 66 mm long
