Products description

Here is a trilobite of the species  Gerastos cuvieri  from the classical site of "Pelm-Salmer Weg" near Gees.
 
 Gerastos cuvieri is the type species of the genus  Gerastos and the  "Pelm-Salmer Weg" site is the type locality of  Gerastos cuvieri. This historical site is one of the most classical locality of palaeontology in Germany. The great scientist Alexander von Humboldt wrote once that he find  wonderful trilobite where so plenty that he has to buy the  socks of a farmers wife in order to carry his finds back. Today is this classical site overgrown by nature reserve that was most likely generated by the generations  fossil collectors that bring limestone and marl to the surface.
How every since the 1980's is the collecting of fossils at the classical site of the trilobite fields in gees forbidden.
