Here is a example of a blastoid of the species  Pentremites rusticus from the Pennsylvanian
of Oklahoma as a nice matrix piece.
This is a natural matrix fossil  and not a composite.
Blastoid  fossils are very often used to bound fossil assemblages from servile isolated spacemen’s that are artificial glued together on a piece of matrix.
