Products description

This is a trilobite of the species Harpidella misera from the "Kopanina - Formation of Kosov.
Unfortunately, this trilobite was colorized, as it is still quite common today.
Behind the manipulation was probably the intention to increase the value of the trilobites due its better contrast.
Of course, the opposite is the case. However, since it still is a real fossil somehow this piece is offered as a cheap example of Harpidella misera. There are also trilobites from Joachim Barrandes times known which have been dyed with paint.
The manipulative colorations of trilobites are like trilobites themselves world wide distributed and not just endemic to the Czech Republic.

Kosov quarry near  Beroun, Bohemia, Czech Republic
Size trilobite:about 13 mm long
Age:Silurian, Kopaninské Formation (about. 430 mill. y.o.)
