Here is a  nicely preserved limulus track of the species Kouphichnium lithographicum from Eichstätt. The horseshoe crab trace is about 250 mm long.

The trace fossil of a limulus is assigned to the ichnospecies Kouphichnium lithographicum (Oppel, 1862). These limulus tracks where originally misinterpreted as trackways of fish like amphibian, birds including  Archaeopteryx or pterodactyls even jumping mammals. Later and due finds like this piece and the compensation with recent limulus trackways was this ichnospecies assignable to the biospecies of its creator. Theoretical can have a ichnospecies more than one creating biospecies.
Mesolimulus walchi is one of the few fossils where the trace fossil can found together with its creator.
