Here is a inexpensive trilobite of the Genus Asteropyge from the devonian of Casablanca. This trilobite was mentioned by Richter, 1943 under open nomenclature as Asteropyge sp. A. Today is this trilobite often labeled as “true” Metacanthina barrandei or even as “Hollardops barrandei”. The last is defiantly incorrect because Metacanthina barrandei is type species of the genus Metacanthina PILLET, 1954. The terminal pygidial spine of this Asteropyge or Hollardops seems to be to long for the species Metacanthina barrandei (OEHLERT, 1889). | |||
