| This is a attractive "Morocco Trilobite" of the species Thysanopelti speciosa abbreviatum on a wonderfull matrix. The pygidium of this trilobite matches exactly with the holotype pictured by Prantl in 1950. The pygidium of Thysanopelti speciosa abbreviatum appears shorter and more concave compared to Thysanopelti speciosa speciosa. Also the rachis ring is more narrow relative to the pygidial width. The central pygidial rib show the fork more close to the rim. The pygidial spines are significantly finer and more regular than on Thysanopelti speciosa speciosa. All this features might justify Thysanopelti speciosa abbreviatum to be a independent species. But on the other hand does show Thysanopelti speciosa generally a relative broad variation bandwidth. On the outer crust is a goniatite cross section that shows some affinity to Anarcestes sp.. How ever this trilobite is a nice and interesting piece. | |||
