Products description

Here is a interesting Utah Trilobite of the genus Eltathia from the Pierson Cove Formation.
This Pierson Cove Elrathia does show only 13 body segments bat has the small pleural spines on the pygidium.  This is one species feature of Elrathia marjumi.
The species border between Elrathia marjumi and Elrathia kingi is not allways very clear.  There are specimens with mixed species features, those seem to be more abundant in the  Pierson Cove Fm. . Maybe here can the transition of a population from one species to a new species been observed.  The typical Elrathia marjumi does show 14 body segments together with pleural spines on the frontal pygidal rim. The classical Elrathia kingi has 13 pleural segments and no spines on the pygidium.
