Here is a nice and large "Ediacara Biota Fossil" of the species Dickinsonia costata. This Dickinsonia costata offers a detailed preservation and shows well on the nice plate. The plate measures about 173 x 148 mm . Along the glue line is a minor part of the fossil repaired. The systematic status of the genus Dickinsonia is still controversial disputed. Even a association with the Fungi or a completely unknown kingdom where discussed in the past. Mostly accepted is status of Dickinsonia as animals (Metazoa). This shows again how different the "Ediacara Fossils" are from “modern” life on earth. | |||
