Here is a interesting and inexpensive trilobite of the genus Metacanthina from the Mhersh site. This trilobite shows some different features compared to the typical Metacanthina issoumourensis. The rachis has a clear defined row of medial tubercles and the spines or the pygidium a stronger and longer than on the typical Metacanthina issoumourensis. This trilobite is re-articulated. The pygidium was obviously drifted from the trilobite. It was extracted and reattached to the thorax. Because its matching size and preservation it belongs most likely to this specimen. This work was done very skilled and anatomical correct. With the surface of the matrix has a white preparation spot on it was almost invisible. This shows why every trilobite on Trifoss is first carefully examined in our lab before it is listed in our catalog. This is anyway a decorative and detailed trilobite and all parts of it are real. Prone would the trilobite be about 54 mm long. | |||
