This lower Devonian Trilobite from Maharch belongs to the relative rare genus Tropidocoryphe. This specimen shows quite some similarity’s with Tropidocoryphe mauretanica G.Alberti 1967. Due the closer geographical setting comes also T. hamlaghdadica G. Alberti 1967 in consideration, but the surface structures of the glabellar is mush weaker on this species. Of course show these tropidocoryphid Trilobites from the Ihandar Formation of the southern Maider basin also some remote affinity to Tropidocoryphe memnon (Hawle et Corda, 1847). But it is absolutely plausible that this Tropidocoryphe from Maharch is another undescribed taxa. As shown in Feist 2003 the Tropidocoryphidae seem to have the tendency to evolving quickly. | |||
