Here is a large and almost complete fossil leaf of the palm fern species Zamites feneonis. This fossil Cycad was found in the late Jurassic of France. It has even the tip of the leaf preserved. Zamites was capable to remove the tip of the leaf branch. That’s why many Zamites fossil leafs are incomplete. Measured along the stem is this specimen about 160 mm long. This Cycad fossil is a good example. Unfortunately the glue lines are not free of lost at all. This fossil is a displayable but not perfect show piece. |
