[Syn. :Norwoodia bellaspina (Shanan Peters dissertation, 2003, unpubl.)] Here we have a nice and spiny trilobite of the species Norwoodia boninoi from the Weeks Formation. The species Norwoodia boninoi is rare been found in the upper Cambrian Weeks Formattion of Utah. This specimen is well preserved. Both cheek spines as well as the back spine and neck spine are very well preserved. The trilobite also has some imperfections. Not preserved are on the left side from the 4th pleural segment including half the pygidium. This missing part is filled in a matching colored resin. The gabella has also not been preserved and has restored as well. Here the link to the S. Peters paper. : http://www.geology.wisc.edu/~peters/pdfs/Weeks.pdf
Norwoodia boninoi was released in 2010 as a new taxon by Robison & Babcock. This trilobite species was already described as Norwoodia bellaspina by Shanan Peters in 2003, together with other trilobites from Weeks Fm. However, this was never officially published in. Nevertheless, Peter's work was widely distributed and was available as a PDF on the website of the Department of Geoscience at the University of Wisconsis-Madison. It is cited from later work.
