This is an exotic fossil insect of the extinct order Alienoptera. This specimen may belong to the species Aethiocarenus burmanicus. Several species and genera of this unusual insect order have described in the Burmese amber. The Cretaceous order Alienoptera shows a strong affinity for the cockroaches and the praying mantis (Mantodea). The exact systematic position is still controversial discussed. However, it is assumed that the Order is to be place between the Mantodea and the Blattodea. Alienoptera fossils appear to be quite rare in Burmese amber. | |||
