| This trilobite of the species Metacanthina maderensis from the lower Devonian of Morocco is in fantastic condition. The species Metacanthina maderensis and Metacanthina issoumourensis are very similar. The two taxa apparently merge into one another in a graded manner. There are all kind of mixed forms known. One of the most prominent features of Metacanthina maderensis are the median tubercles on the rachis rings. And in this specimen shows these tubercles very clearly and typical. Both taxa described by Morzadec in 2001, but obviously they show a considerable range of inner species variation. The trilobite would be about 60 mm long and present itself decoratively on a naturally shaped matrix. | |||
