On this plate from Lebanon are two fossil fish of the species Ctenothrissa vexillifer. In addition, there is a large but incomplete brittle star of the species Geocoma libanotica on this plate. The fist Ctenothrissa fossil shows an excellent and complete preservation. This specimen is about 66 mm long. The second fish fossil is mostly preserved as a negative and measures approximately 61 mm in length. Unfortunately, such specimens are far too often colorized. Even though they can be also very decorative in their natural state, as this specimen clearly demonstrates. Not every fossil has to be perfect to be nice.
