This fossil fish from the Sonthofen plate limestone is a Pholidophorus.
The genus Pholidophorus shows a thick scale dress as in the Holostei, but already has a bony spine. This specimen measures about 260 mm along its body. Altogether is this a large and relatively rare fossil fish from the late Jurassic of Eichstatt near Solnhofen.
