Here is a very rich fossil crinoids plate with numerous of the species Platycrinites basicraniatus from the Carboniferous of Montana. The fossil crinoids are present in a very attractive and detailed preservation. The matrix offers a beautiful texture and color. It is an extraordinarily beautiful showpiece from an unusual fossil location. The Lodgepole Formation of Montana is apparently relatively difficult to access, but this site has provided some outstanding fossil finds. The largest crinoids crown on this plate measures about 36 mm. | |||
