Products description

This is a relatively rare Chancelloriidae of the species Nidelric pugio from the Lower Cambrian Chengjiang Lagerstatte. The family Chancelloriidae or the order Chancelloriida is an extinct group of sponge-like organisms restricted to the Cambrian age.
The systematic position is uncertain, but apparently the Chancelloriidae actually seem to be most closely related to the sponge, i.e. the Porifera. This piece from the Heilinpu Formation shows a practically complete and a partially preserved specimen of the species Nidelric pugio.
