| Here is an inexpensive specimen of one of the early land plant Gosslingia breconensis from the Lower Devonian of Ukraine. Gosslingia is an extinct genus of land plants, mainly known from the Devonian period, belonging to the Zosterophyllopsida. The genus was named after the British amateur geologist Frank Newbery Gossling. Gosslingia is placed in the family of club moss plants. Originally, this primitive plant was described as described by Heard, in 1925 as Psilophyton sp, but then renamed Gosslingia in his 1927 publication. | |||
