This is an inexpensive specimen of an aglaspid of the species Leptaglaspis schmidti from the Fezouata Shale of Morocco. The Leptaglaspis itself measures about 56 mm in length. Agalaspids are a extinct sister group of the Trilobites. The closest today living related animal group are horse shoe craps, the Xiphosurida. Agalaspids are widely distributed but fossil finds are anyway rare. | |||
