This is a rather rare fossil specimen of the species Magila desmaresti , preserved with notablelevel of detail. Mole lobsters (thalassinidean crustaceans) are known for their extremely thin and poorly mineralized carapace, which explains why the UV image reveals few additional structures. This is typical for Magila specimens from the lithographic limestones of Solnhofen and Eichstätt. Magila is assumed to have led a primarily burrowing lifestyle. The specimen measures approximately 35 mm in length as preserved on the slab. | |||
