Products description

This plate shows a fossil bivalve grazing trail with the the clam of the genus at the end. Solemya can be found. In this case the fossil Solemya bivalve is only preserved as an impression. This is the case with the most finds Solemya traces from the Solnhofen Formation.
It is assumed that the Solemya fed on algae or bacterial mats on the sediment surface.
The trace fossil itself is an irregularly winding, rather meandering trace that runs horizontally to the sediment surface. Further is it not branching and also it is not very differentiated. Hence, this is most likely to be classified as Helminthopsis isp.
