The site of Chengjiang and its Fossils.

The Chengjiang Lagerstatte in South China represents a unique window into the mid-Cambrian period, late Atdabanian, 522 million years ago, making it 17 million years older than the famous Burgess Shale in Canada. Both localities are known for their exceptional preserved fossils.These find sometimes even show soft tissue parts. They provide unique insights into the time of the Cambrian explosion  (Also known as Cambrian radiation.) It is believed that there has never been more biodiversity on our planet than at this time. Virtually almost all animal strains can be detected for the first time at this period of Earth History.
