Here is a detailed specimen of a fossilized brittle star from the Upper Ordovician of Morocco. These specimens are commonly offered as “Ophiura sp.” However, the Ophiuroidea findings from the Tafilalt region show a strong affinity to the genus Lapworthura. Therefore, “?Lapworthura sp.” is also a widely used designation for this presumably undescribed species. The present specimen would have had a wingspan of approximately 46 mm, if prone. |
