| This is a fossilized leaf of the genus Diospyros from the conservation deposit Bois d’Asson in France. The Diospyros findings from the Oligocene of Bois d’Asson are classified as Diospyros varians. Whether this represents a valid taxon is difficult to determine, as the genus Diospyros is exceptionally diverse and species-rich, with approximately 400 to 730 species. |
