This is a fossil ouster colony of the genus Inoceramus.
Fossil clams are generally rare in the lithographic solnhofen limestone. The finding location does not correspond to the habitat. It can be assumed that all the mussels from the central lithographic limestone’s are passively migrated from outside. For example as blind passengers on floating driftwood or order debris.
