Megalodon Teeth for sale

Megalodon teeth have always been among the most sought‑after fossil shark teeth. Even during the lifetime of Louis Agassiz, they were considered highly desirable paleontological collectibles. The species was originally described in 1843 as Carcharodon megalodon, under the assumption that it was closely related to the modern Great White Shark.
As research progressed, the species was reassigned to the genus Carcharocles, based on the argument that Carcharocles megalodon belonged to an independent evolutionary lineage unrelated to the Great White Shark. According to modern scientific consensus, the species is now classified as Otodus megalodon.
The evolutionary sequence from Otodus obliquus to Otodus megalodon is complete and well documented, covering roughly 60 million years. With O. megalodon, the entire genus becomes extinct. The closest living relatives today are the mako sharks (Isurus), although they represent a side branch of the family tree.
One of the largest documented Megalodon teeth measures about 7.5 inches (approximately 19 cm). Such specimens are exceptional finds. The standard size is up to about 3 inches (around 7.5 cm). A tooth measuring 4 to 5 inches is already considered large, and anything above that is regarded as rare.
Traditionally, the edge or slant height is measured, known in English as “slant height.” This method not only yields larger numerical values but is also particularly suitable for reliably comparing size differences between Megalodon teeth using a single measurement.
