Here is a rare Ediacaran fossil of the genus Aspidella from the Stappogiedde formation of Norway. The aspidella itself measures about 26 mm. It is a second, but only faintly recognizable specimen of Aspidella on the plate.
Aspidella is a disc-shaped fossil with concentric rings or radial structures. It is considered an Ediacaran form taxon with unclear biological affiliation, often interpreted as the holdfast of a sessile organism. |
