Burmite Amber Fossils

Burmite Amber Fossils

Fossils in the cretaceous amber from Burma.

The Cretaceous Amber of  Buma is found in the Eocene strata of the Hukong Valley.
However, the Burma amber has been redeposit, just like the Baltic amber. The age of around 100 million years is now considered to be correct. Studies by Poinar, Lambert & Wu from 2007 suggest that Burma amber originate from the resin of representatives of the araucaria and/ or the menbers of the Dipterocarpaceae. Above all, the Burma amber is characterized by its diverse amber inclusions. In addition to insect fossils and fossil plants are reptile finds and even saurian & bird feathers are also known. In 2019* even an ammonite from Burma amber was described. The question of the cretaceous should thus be finally resolved.
